The Dirksen Family - Aruba

This picture is of Frank Dirksen (accordion) and his family at the folk festival held in Aruba, Caribbean called the Dande. It is a tradition that has be held for over a hundred years in which at the beginning of the year (Jan 1st) a group of musicians go from door to door and wish the families a Happy New Year. Frank’s family are all musicians including his wife who plays the cuarta, a small guitar instrument. His 8 year old son also plays the button accordion.

 

Pedro Torrez - Macedonia

Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Pedro now resides in Europe. He is most comfortable with the bajo quinto and plans to open his own music production company when he moves back to the states. He has a couple custom bajos that he will share with us shortly.

Our good friend Alex Marcelo and his group Los Rancheros de Rio Grande are from Santiago, Chile. "El acordeon es nuestra pacion" dice Alex. The accordion is our passion according to Alex. Los Gallos - Paris France

Coming all the way from Paris, France, Los Gallos de Paris are a testament to the power of conjunto music. Not only does it transcend cultural differences, but it brings them together without losing any of its essence. Individually Los Gallos bring a multitude of musical knowledge and styles; from classical to jazz to Cajun to conjunto. Los Gallos have recently recorded their first CD and will be available for sale.
